Frames Redirect:
Most finitesite.com customers have a .com,
.net, .org or other top level domain name that points
at their finitesite.com account.
finitesite.com's standard redirect is done
using an index page located on our server that is
configured using two frames.
The top frame
points directly to your finitesite.com member
account, or other site you have specified, and pulls up
the content while still displaying your top level
domain name in the title bar. The bottom frame
is not visible, but displays a blank page.
When you type in your domain name and see your page,
you will notice that any links you follow will not be
displayed in the address bar, only your domain name
appears. If you view the source for this page,
you will see the default frames code.
If you want to insert META that the search engines
will pick up under your domain name, you must have
this done in the frames redirect page directly on the server. If you insert it in the page
that your top
level domain name points at, the search engines will
not be able to see it.
Example META Tags would be like this:
<title>Orchard Hill Road Apple
Orchard and Farm Stand</title>
<META name="description" content="Visit the
Apple Orchard on Orchard Hill Road for fresh apples,
apple butter and preserve, cider, apple sauce or pick
your own fresh macintosh and granny smith apples
yourself.">
<META name="keywords" content="apples,
orchard, apple sauce, cider, pick your own,
preserve.">
In addition to the standard META, you may want to
insert content between the <p> </p>
tags in the
body. This content may be the only thing that
appears on your listing, especially with search
engines like google.com.
For example, if now the <p> </p> tags
are
<p>This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't support them.
or yourname.com listed here.</p>
You may change it
to be:
<p>At
the Apple Orchard on Orchard Hill Road, we believe an
apple a day keeps the Doctor away. Come and pick
fresh apples at our orchard, or stop by our stand and
get cider, apple sauce, pie, apple butter and try our
new apple preserve.</p>
For tips on META check out this page:
http://www.yourfavorite.com/free/meta.htm
Also, if you want
to see two example sites, one with no changes, and one
with META and keywords in the <p>
</p> tags in the body see the following sites:
http://cardapprovals.com
this site has good META and keywords
http://apply-for-a-credit-card.com
this site has NO META or keywords inserted
When
looking at these pages...
In Internet Explorer Browser View menu then Source
In Netscape: View menu, then Page Source
To see how they are
listed or not listed in google.com, go to http://google.com
and type cardapprovals.com. Then try it with
apply-for-a-credit-card.com.
If you want to
insert META into your redirected domain name, you can
submit it to us and we will insert it for you.
There is a one-time fee of $25 for each server
change.
Here is an example
of the entire page code if you wanted to make your own
BASIC META and submit it for insertion:
If you wish to submit your META, first click
here to authorize the one-time fee of
$25.
Once you receive
your receipt and four digit order number, you send
your META or the entire page code including HTML as a
.txt, text file attachment with your order number and
top level domain name in the subject line to support @
yourfavorite.com
It may take up to
48 hours for the server changes to update and
propagate, although it may be as soon as 1 hour.
Only files submitted as a proper .txt file will be
processed. No html or pasted emails will be
processed.
Other server
changes you can make include submission of your entire
index page code, a META redirect, rather than a frames
redirect, a temporary message or HTML page, or any
other insertion you require.
We are not responsible for the content of the code
submitted, so please do not use this option if you
have no idea what you are doing. Server page
changes are not refundable.
